11.03.06: Star General Contractors Wins 2nd Business Diversity of the Year Award
ROCKFORD, IL November 3, 2006 - For the second consecutive year, Star General Contractors, L.L.C., a division of Star-Holdings of Illinois, L.L.C., has received the Outstanding Business Diversity Award from the Northern Illinois Minority Companies Association (NIMCA). Founded in 1989, NIMCA is a network of regional business owners that provides training and guidance for minority- and women-owned businesses in Northern Illinois.
This Award recognizes Star General Contractors' continued outreach to small, minority- and women-owned contracting businesses in Northern Illinois. Over the last year, Star General Contractors has hosted several small business development training workshops aimed at providing local minority- and women-owned companies with information and guidance in several important business areas, including, record keeping, contract bidding and financing.
"We are honored that NIMCA has chosen to recognize our continuing efforts to provide local small and minority-owned businesses some of the tools they need to improve themselves and give them a better chance to succeed," said Mary Moore, Principal of Star-Holdings. "Small businesses drive the economies of our local communities, and we really want to encourage them to take steps that will improve their stability and success."
The Award was presented at NIMCA's 17th Annual Banquet held at Cliffbreakers Hotel and Convention Center in Rockford.
